The East and West Dublin BART Corridor Enhancement Project was designed to improve the visual appeal of the Dublin Boulevard corridor as well as link neighborhoods through the transit-oriented area. Median markers, way-finding signs, city monument signs, sidewalk widening, and a gateway feature called the Eternal Ribbon were added.
The Eternal Ribbon, designed by Royston Hanamoto Alley & Abey, is viewed daily by more than 60,000 motorists and pedestrians passing through and is intended to announce arrival into the city and create a sense of place and excitement. In 2009, PolyGrate™ tree grates were specified for the project because of its value and affordability, durability and ease of installation. The project was completed in July 2010.
